This new CILIP online course is delivered on the CILIP VLE over a 4 week period, 4-29 September 2017 when the resources on the course site will be open for registered participants. The course includes a range of compulsory activities to complete and there will be live webinars on 13,14 and 15 September (see 'Programme' for further details)
The purpose of this free course is to provide participants with a background to mentoring, to develop the appropriate skills and to learn more about the CILIP scheme and supporting Professional Registration candidates.
This course is designed for those new mentors who may have difficulty in attending a face to face course. It is equivalent to the 1 day face to face mentor training sessions that CILIP also continues to run for new mentors, so participants should expect to spend up to 7 hours to complete all the activities within the course.
Mentor Training is a requisite for becoming a CILIP Mentor and this course is suitable for all CILIP members who have recently registered as CILIP mentors or who are thinking of registering.
Facilitator: Kirstie Preest
Places are limited to ensure small group interaction. Please register using the ‘contact details’ link on this page and use the subject line ‘Online mentor training September’ Closing date for applications is Friday 18 August 2017.
NOTE: This course is now fully booked. A further course is planned for November 2017.
The course includes a range of compulsory activities to complete and there will be live webinars on 13,14 and 15 September where you will get a chance to experience being a mentor (each live webinar will take approximately 45 minutes and you only need to participate in one of these). Please check your availability during this period before enrolling.
By the end of the online course participants will:
- Have an awareness of mentoring and the role and function of the mentor
- Have had the opportunity to explore and experience mentoring
- Have an understanding of the CILIP scheme and candidate support, and have considered the next steps.
